[GA4/GAds] How to identify if you are impacted by incorrect campaign data in reports (and fix it)

A problem that has been talked about since June 2024 and to which Google has not yet provided a solution because it is a privacy and cookie issue (Consent Mode).

❌ The problem is basically related to the campaign name in the Acquisition report. If you also have this problem you will see campaign names like (organic) or (not set) for Google Ads traffic:

👇 You can see it by following these steps as shown in the screenshot below:

1) Go to Acquisition –> Traffic Acquisition
2) Change the primary dimension to “Session source/medium”
3) Add “Session campaign” as secondary dimension (there is a typo in the screenshot)
4) Filter by “google / cpc”

🎯 An immediate solution is to use UTM parameters like this:

?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=my-campaign-name&utm_id=my-campaign-id
